Double Time

So took the pee test Big Fat Negative... O well ... just keep trying. It will happen!!! We are just going to keep trying and get all that much more prepared in the mean time. With tax season here, we plan to get the crib of our dreams and the car seat. We were planning on waiting until we knew for sure but I'm going to go out on a limb and just decide that WE WILL HAVE A BABY!! Plan B if nothing else will be foster/adopt. We've already been certified and ready to go but the house we were in the process of getting fell through. An apartment is ok for us but just doesn’t' feel right for somebody else’s kid. I don’t know . . .

Ovulation

If you’ve ever tried to conceive than you know that it’s a long process.
First you have to find out when you are ovulating

Then you wait…… wait for proof. Every little change is a maybe. Every new feeling makes my heart race. I wish you didn’t have to wait so long to find out.
Before we decided to do this I got a check up with my OBGYN. She gave a healthy thumb up. I started taking prenatal pills, eating a little better, gave up the New Years Midori, started to exercise a little more and convinced Nikki to quit smoking. She’s doing so well too! These are just precautions that couldn’t hurt. I know I’m going to be one of those moms that are way over protective. Like no bad words around the baby and wash your hands if you smoke and want to hold him/her. That kind of thing…… that’s not so bad though right?
I wish I knew somebody that was going through this or has in the past. I’m so excited and already started searching for baby stuff. My plan is to be neutral and not sexist with the colors. Just because it’s a girl doesn’t mean she should be drowning in pink, same with a boy.

Pregnant Lesbian

As long as I can remember I’ve wanted to get married and make babies. I never planned on being a lesbian, she just happened. Nikki and I met 8 years ago but neither of us had come to terms with the way we felt about each other. It’s not something they prepare you for in Sex Ed. Can you imagine the outraged parents finding out that their teenager learned that sometimes people of the same sex develop undeniable feelings for one another and live happily ever after?

The ‘make babies’ part is a little tricky though. The hard part is figuring out how to create a child without the male reproductive organ. From this very problem a solution was created. Why not get the sperm from the male and put it in yourself? Seems simple enough. . . .Turkey baster? Check! Sperm? Check! Houston we have a go!

Where do you find the sperm? That depends. You can get a can full from a cryo bank In California for $500-$700. Or you could find a donor and write up a contract so that there are no misunderstandings.

That’s what Nikki and I decided would be best. Just so happens we have a good friend that is more than willing for nothing more than the satisfaction of being called uncle by the kid when he/she is old enough. SOLD! Ok so here we go…
